"
출렁이는 바다와 파도, 물결을 지루하게 모사 또는 재현한 것이 아니다.
푸르기도 하고 노랗기도 하고 초록이기도 한 김재신의 파도는 햇살이 물결에
부딪혀 산란하고 비산하는 빛의 형태이기도 하다. 그의 작업은 평면작업 또는
그림에 대한 고정관념같이 물결과 빛의 순간포착의 재현이라기보다는, 바다
물결을 타고 흩어지는 빛의 순간들과 순간들을 중첩하고 중첩해 평면작업으로
재구성해낸 것에 가깝다.
단단한 나무 표면에 아로새겨진 형형색색 앞에서, 김재신 작품의 수용자는
내적인 고양과 율동감을 느끼고 한동안 작품 앞에서 발길을 뗄 수가 없다.
우리가 익히 안다고 생각했던 바다와 파도를, 그이 작품 앞에서
다시 새롭게 경험하게 된다. "
This is not a tedious imitation or reproduction of the undulating
sea,waves, and ripples. Kim Jae-shin's waves sometimes blue,
sometimesyellow, sometimes green are also forms of light scattered
and dispersedas sunlight strikes the water. His work is less a
reproduction of a moment captured, a flat painting or a
conventional depiction of waves and light, and more a
reconstruction in two dimensions of superimposed
moments of light scattered across the ocean waves.
Before the vibrant colors etched onto the solid wood surface, the
viewer of Kim Jae-shin's work experiences an inner uplift and a
sense of rhythm, unable to tear themselves away for a while.
Before his work, we experience anew the sea and waves we
thought we already knew.
